Sentry SDK

Error and performance monitoring for .NET.

Worked on by James Crosswell

Sentry SDK: the Sentry issues feed

What it is

The Sentry SDK for .NET is Sentry's open source library for sending errors, traces, logs and profiles from .NET apps to Sentry. It has integrations for ASP.NET Core, MAUI, Blazor, Entity Framework, OpenTelemetry and the popular logging libraries, and it runs everywhere .NET does: Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android. It's Sentry's product, built by a small team of maintainers and a long list of contributors from the community.

What I do

Since 2023 I've been one of the core maintainers of the .NET SDK for Sentry. That means writing and reviewing PRs, triaging issues, helping people who get stuck and writing code.

I've worked quite a bit with the OpenTelemetry integration; Session Replay for MAUI apps on Android and iOS; capturing heap dumps automatically; backpressure handling for apps under heavy load; and making the SDK safe to trim and compile with Native AOT.

I also spend a lot of time on the mobile plumbing, like the bindings to Sentry's native Android and iOS SDKs and getting symbols and source context for Android release builds.

These days AI writes most of the code. We still have to discuss and understand it so reviews are the bottleneck and the teams are looking for ways to be able to trust LLMs enough that humans need to be involved less... even if just for some of the changes.
